I'm Rita Kappia, an artist and educator based in the UK. My specialisation lies in making hand-made, one-of-a-kind art dolls known as Empowerment Dolls, each bearing an uplifting message. These unique creations reflect a fusion of my West African heritage, with my mother originating from Ghana and my father from Sierra Leone, along with my upbringing in the UK, resulting in truly distinctive works of art.

Background and Artistic Journey
​
Following the completion of my BSc degree in design development, I dedicated the subsequent 18 years to becoming a self-taught doll maker, cultivating my distinct style of doll crafting using wire, beads, paper, spoons, and an array of other materials. My artistic creativity knows no bounds and continues to evolve. I also derive immense satisfaction from breathing new life into upcycled and recycled materials. My art has reached a global audience, with a notable presence in the United States. Every doll I create is unique and made with love.
